Good Class Bungalow Development

The Brief

Situated in a lush pocket of greenery, a stone’s throw from the retail heart of Singapore, Orchard Road, the development of a Good Class Bungalow at 8 Rochalie Drive was undertaken by the client as an investment property, one to appeal to expatriates.

Taking advantage of the mature trees fronting the corner properties 2 road side boundaries, the residence was set back from the roads to allow the introduction of a swimming pool to be nestled between the residence and the landscaping.

Extensively used for entertaining, the ground floor rooms open up onto terraces overlooking the pool and landscaping, whilst the private bedrooms and office areas of the residence are located on the upper floors.

Featuring 4 main bedrooms and an entertainment room/ spare bedroom complete with bathroom, the development was designed to allow expatriate families plenty of space to receive overseas guests.

The residence plan was “opened-up” via the introduction of a courtyard separating rooms to allow natural cross ventilation to reduce the reliance on mechanical cooling. Large eaves and shading devices were incorporated to allow the building to function naturally, even during the heaviest of downpours.
