The Brief

To create a world class 5+ star resort bringing an exclusive island feel to the ever expanding urban environment of Doha, Qatar. 20 minutes by boat from the heart of Qatar’s vibrant capital, Doha, the Banana Island Resort and Spa by Anantara is located on a breathtaking 13 hectare island that feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

With architecture inspired by Tropical resorts teamed with local vernacular, the myriad of facilities are housed along the entire length of the island.

Fusing modern Arabic design with luxurious amenities the 4 styles of accommodation totaling 141 Rooms, Suites, Pool Villas and Over Water Villas provide an almost endless choice for discerning guests, whilst the inclusion of 7 dedicated restaurants and dining venues aim to attract visitors to the island for the culinary experience alone.

Designed to compliment Anantara’s lifestyle programmes, the Balance Wellness Centre houses dedicated facilities to enhance Anantara’s holistic approach to assessing a Guest’s lifestyle, physical, mental and emotional state to devise a programme that is personally prescribed to the individual guests needs.

To aid in the rejuvenation and experience of the guests the Anantara Spa located adjacent to the Over Water Villas is a dedicated spa village incorporating single and double treatment rooms, Male and Female Hammams, Jacuzzi’s and Relaxation Lounges.

Recreation and resort facilities include a 2 lane surf pool, 8 lane bowling alley, cinema, 9 hole putting golf course, Reef Conservation and Dive Centre, 800m long beach, 100m long lagoon pool and kids aqua park with 3 water slides.
